For many people a career means a part of life that is concerned with employment .From occupational stand point,it means the sum total of various jobs you may hold during your life time .However , these definition do not fully capture the meaning of career. We would like you to think of career in a broader more life encompassing way.Think of this decisions you make about a job or a college major as valuable components of a life long process.When views in this manner , career can be defined as the sum total of decisions that direct your educational, social, economic, political and spiritual endeavors and reflect your unique personality characteristics and basic life values

All these are carved out niches which eventually turned a career and today they are so many involved in one self carved out niche that turned career

I am very proud of it,many people think studying agriculture related courses is a total waste of time
It took me time to convince my parent to accept the fact that I really wanted to study agriculture.
Mum was like:You can practice agric without studying it❓
Dad was like :What a useless course❓
Friends where like :You want to waste five years studying plant and animals๐
I was like: I am meant to be a certified agriculturist๐ช
Many people feel is a waste of time studying agricultural related courses
Let me quickly share how studying agriculture, helped me on the field
Firstly my name is Abili Daniel, still an undergraduate from the department of Agricultural engineering
Just answering the tag agricultural engineering student has taken me so many places, I have met so many people because of been an Agricultural engineering student
Believe it or not
I vividly remember the first time I used my knowledge In agricultural engineering on the field, that was on Agumba farms (Imo state)were I was called up to formulate and process the sinking fish feed
When I got that farm, I noticed things were in disarray,we and some other guys later had to set many things in order
It was then time to put the extruder in other, it was not my first time encountering the extruder.I had come across it so many times in the agricultural engineering implement shed of my school, I have equally operated it
It got to the time of fixing the right belt size ..
The farm workers present ran around looking for different belt size, none was fitting into it well
Then my mind went back to when a lecturer took us on a course called POST HARVEST PHYSIOLOGY
In that course we were taught how to operate most processing equipment
We were also taught how to calculate there belt sizes
I just picked a paper did some calculations and ordered the workers to get me a particular belt size
It fitted ,too well that every one of them were amazed at my accuracy
I was able to do that accurately because of the knowledge I have from my course of study

That's the difference between farmer who went for 3months training and a farmer who went to study it for five years

it's called professionalism
It's saddens my heart alot of agricultural graduates are unemployed today,when they got what it takes

Alot of people think graduating with a degree in agriculture will only earn you job in a farm
hmm
Today entrepreneurship is overemphasized ,there is need for you to look away from jobs
Am not saying working for an organization is bad
But the present economic strictly states entrepreneurship must be considered
Nevertheless, your degree in agriculture or agric related courses can earn you good jobs in
✔️Food processing companies
✔️ Developmental banks and banks of industry
✔️ commercial farms
✔️Seeds producing and markerting companies
✔️ Research institute
✔️ Schools and Universities
This doesn't mean you can fit into other jobs... There are alot of engineers Working in the bank today ..It's just depends on your ability and multitasking
Are you a student, a jambite who has passion for agriculture why not consider a degree or career in agriculture or agricultural related courses
