CAUSES OF EGG DROP IN LAYERS FARMING⁣

CAUSES OF EGG DROP IN LAYERS FARMING⁣
some years ago i was opportuned to attend an online training on poultry farming and specifically on layers farming⁣
In that particular training the trainer told us if we apply the 3 in 1 vaccine , then eggs would never drop⁣
Wrong information ❗⁣

This is why alot of farms have closed up today⁣
Finally , I got a job as a farm attendant still under the supervision of the farm manager⁣
I discovered that preventing egg drop in layers goes beyond just administering the 3 in 1 Vaccine

During my stay I discovered so many things can be responsible for egg drop in layers which may include⁣
 POOR FEEDING AND NUTRITION

: A laying bird should consume nothing less than 120g per day of a well balanced feed. Starving birds could lead to drastic drop in egg production .⁣
On the aspect of nutrition, layers require a protein ⁣
Nutrient requirement ⁣
Crude Protein (CP)16.50% (min)⁣
Crude Fat5.00% (max)⁣
Crude Fibre (CF)7.00% (max)⁣
Calcium3.60% (min)⁣
Phosphorus, available0.45% (min)⁣
Lysine0.87% (min)⁣
Methionine0.44% (min)⁣
Methionine + Cystine0.70% (min)⁣
Threonine0.60% (min)⁣
Tryptophan0.20% (min)⁣
Poor and unbalanced feed would definitely lead to poor egg production⁣
Do not equally forget clean water ,as it is part of nutrition

.
DISEASE AND PARASITIC  INFESTATION: ⁣
diseases like Newcastle disease, Egg drop syndrome , infectious bursaries, fowl cholera, avian influenza   and many other diseases is capable of wiping out a whole flock of birds and reduce egg production severely.⁣
Parasite like tick which can hide under the wings of birds could equally cause a drop in egg production⁣
Preventive measures like proper vaccination must be administered to prevent the incidence of disease, as well as strict biosecurity⁣.
Layers should be examined at intervals to check mate parasitic infestation⁣
.
POOR LIGTHENING :

At the laying stage, a laying bird requires at least 14-16hrs of light , anything less than that could be threatening⁣
Light stimulates laying⁣

  NOISE
Noise from feed Mills ,dog barks and heavy duty machines could cause adverse effect on laying birds. However feed Mills and others activities that would create hectic noise should be avoided around the laying pen⁣
.
BROODINESS⁣
BROODINESS often triggers a decrease in egg production. Exhibiting broodiness is normal in laying birds is normal in laying hens and it is an inmate condition . However this behavior can be discouraged by lightning the pen⁣
.
POOR PULLET QUALITY⁣

Birds gotten from unhealthy parent stock will definitely not do well. However make sure that the birds are gotten from healthy parent stock by patronizing a reputable brand⁣
⁣⁣

OVERCROWDING: every bird has it own population density ,a laying bird occupies 5ft square anything less than that can be tagged overcrowding . overcrowding can lead to poor ventilation, cannibalism, pecking
 EGG DRINKING :

Egg drinking is a top secret that a bird should never be aware of .It's unknown to birds how delicious and nutritious the content of there eggs are. When they discover from a cracked egg it becomes a regular activity which will lead to severe egg drop⁣

POOR VENTILATION :⁣
Heat reduce egg production, there should be enough ventilation. Remember this is not a brooding pen⁣

CANNIBALISM: ⁣
it's found in large flocks when the birds will tear and consume skin issues  of the other birds in the flock..causes of cannibalism include⁣
∆Overcrowding⁣
∆food and  water shortage⁣
∆excessive heat⁣
∆Excess light⁣
∆Birds with parasite⁣
The outbreak of cannibalism can reduce egg production⁣

WEATHER FLUNTUATION :⁣
Laying birds lay less in winter naturally because daylight decease during this period as the bird shed there feathers ,repair and restore there body. This cannot be avoided but can be managed by lightning the pen⁣
